Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Cacao Coast Classroom Experience?
A two week, founder led, place based learning programme on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, for families with children aged 8 and up. Parents take part fully alongside their children, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 1pm.
A two-week, founder-led, place-based learning programme in the nature and wildlife of Costa Rica's Caribbean coast, for worldschooling, home-educating and travelling families with children aged 8 and up. Parents take part fully alongside their children, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 1pm. This is not a family holiday, eco-tour or drop-in activity: it is an immersive, educational travel experience built around five pillars: Conservation, Culture, Community, Cacao and Creativity.
Is this a worldschooling hub?
No. We are not a drop in space or a coworking backdrop. Families commit to the full fortnight, and everything is built around that.
No. Cacao Coast Classroom is not a coworking backdrop, a drop-in activity or a conventional ecotourism experience. Families commit to the full fortnight, and everything, the rainforest and jungle exploration, the bean-to-bar chocolate making, the Indigenous and Afro-Caribbean cultural immersion, is designed around that continuity.
What ages can take part?
Children aged 8 and up, with a parent present throughout. Children aged 13 and up may be considered for a drop off arrangement, case by case.
Can families book just one week?
No. The Experience runs as a single fortnight, Roots & Rhythms in week one and Seeds & Stories in week two. The two weeks are not sold separately.
What does it cost?
$1,200 per person for the full two week Experience. One flat rate, no tiers.
Who teaches the programme?
Educators who live and work on this coast, alongside conservation, cacao and cultural partner organisations including Sloth Co, Ara Manzanillo, Coral Conservation, Finca La Isla, Talamanca Chocolate and El Puente. These relationships were not built for the programme, they were already part of the founders' life here..
